Olesya Bortnyak 

Passionate about hip-hop and raised by his grandmother in Vama village, in Romania's Suceava county, Mohamed wants to change his surname but is troubled by how his Syrian father would react to his decision

Olesya Bortnyak was born in Kamianets-Podilskyi, Ukraine. She studied at the Karpenko-Kary National University of Theatre, Film and TV. Olesya worked as a director at the Ukrainian television and as a journalist at Radio Liberty. She directed 8 short films. Olesya’s film Elegy took part in the young filmmakers’ competition at GoEast Film Festival in 2009.  Olesya’s documentary project Mission of Aishe was a winner of Polish Academy of Document in Kiev and is a participant of International Academy of Document Dragon Forum 2012.
